Zildjian's 10 K Custom Special Dry Splash is a raw-sounding, highly sensitive splash cymbal that is more suited for short accents, abrupt pops, and funky, nasty overtones than for extended, shimmering washes. When you desire short, powerful cymbal hits, its natural, unlathed top and extra-thin weight give it a gritty, "special dry" quality that shines out. Excellent for drummers looking for minimum sustain and precise, controlled splash effects with attitude.

Sound Characteristics: 

• It has a rough, earthy tone and is dry and dark. Instead of being brilliant and dazzling, the music is rough and edgy.  
• Attack: Extremely quick attack that strikes quickly, forcefully, and with minimal delay.  
• Sustain: Very short sustain / quick decay – the sound opens and shuts down rapidly, providing tight, clear accents.
• Wash and Overtones: There is very little wash; the overtones are gritty, a little "dirty," and have a dry, trashy edge instead of a smooth shimmering, adding presence and character without lingering. 
• Projection/Volume: Medium volume—perfect for contemporary styles, tight grooves, and controlled dynamics—enough to cut through a mix when necessary without being unduly loud or washy.
